Religious Figurines

Green Square Antiques carries a large and varied selection of religious figures, called Santos. Santos mainly originates from former colonies such as Vietnam (a former French colony) and Philippines (a former Spanish colony). Santos is a Catholic tradition, and they have been displayed in churches and monasteries, as well as in private homes.

Santos has often been carved in wood. Colours in polychrome or their residues - or in no paint. They always represent saints such as Saint George and Saint Michael.

You will find a selection of European Baroque figurines from the 16th and 17th centuries. All religious figurines have been made for a religious purpose and therefore naturally personify the passion, with which the creator tried to personify the expression which he intended.
